In Bantu Africa, the quilombo is a society for the initiation of young warriors, or a place of rest for nomads. In Brazil, at the time of slavery, the quilombo designates the villages and communities formed by slaves fleeing in remote areas. In Argentina, the quilombo is a very common slang word which could be translated by “agitation” or more vulgarly by “brothel” and which carries within it the concept of savage, explosive. Created in November 2010 by Jérémie Reichenbach and Adonis Liranza, Quilombo Films is an independent production company specializing in creative documentary cinema and oriented towards the production of demanding films both by the strength of their content and in their formal research. Quilombo Films is a member of the LumièreS du monde network and of the Doc Club (LUSSAS)
