THE DEATH INDUSTRY
by Lionel Ulrich Doyigbe
BENIN, France - IN PRODUCTION
synopsis
In Benin, each death sets in motion an economy where artisans, traders of all kinds, sellers of fabrics, gris-gris, etc. find their account. In bereaved families subjected to social pressure to organize the most beautiful funerals in the country, a person is appointed to take care of common expenses. From negotiations to transactions, from the bank to the morgue, the waltz of service providers sets in, leading our hero in a race for debt for prestige that will begin in the aftermath of death, to end in style a few months later , the occasion of the grandiose feast which follows the burial, the Aga.
