Created in 2014, in partnership with Atelier Video Multimedia in Saint-Laurent du Maroni (French Guiana), Doc Amazonie Caraïbe is a programme based on the tutorship/training of resident filmmakers and producers.
Initially based in French territories of French Guiana, Haiti, Martinique and Guadeloupe, the programme has organised script writing workshops nearly every year and a production course in 2016. Co-production forums also took place in 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019, with a current total of 12 films completed and 16 in production (June 2020).

Since 2019, in the dynamics of the International documentary film festival of Amazonia and Caribbean (FIFAC), the programme has opened up to professionals of English and Spanish speaking countries of the region, with the goal of bringing together isolated territories to strengthen professional networks and the opportunities for the films to circulate.

The Doc Amazonie Caraibe workshops - writing residency and support for the pitching session - take place in Guyana for Guyanese authors as well as in Guadeloupe for Martinican and Guadeloupean authors. An online workshop for authors from the large Amazon Caribbean area is organized remotely (subject to change). The Co-production Meetings take place within the framework of FIFAC (October 12 to 16, 2021) in Saint-Laurent du Maroni.
